To the Pluto and back...

Dusk was falling rapidly. The clouds that had been wispy and white in morning were now darker and denser which signaled heavy rains. The trees were swaying with cold wind. Amongst this hustle and bustle, a bunch of kids were gleefully waiting for misty rains. Their innocence made me smile. No doubt, there is always something special with first rainfall of the season.

I was eagerly waiting for Saniya who had promised to rejoice First Rains with me.  Suddenly I felt a sense of warmth and comfort around me and yes, she’s here.

I – (Pointing at watch) you are late!

Her – Not really. It’s about to rain.

I – (Offering her a rose) Apologies accepted.

Her – (With a blush) Since when you have become this romantic?

I – (Making faces) My romance was never been noticed.

Her – (Laughing) Good one.

I – Not funny (with a pause) You are looking beautiful today!

Her – Overwhelmed. (Winking)The weather has to be blamed....right?

I – Whatever!

Her – You know this is heaven: sitting next to you in this pleasant weather where even if we don’t utter a word, everything is heard and understood.

I – This is the beauty of our relationship.
(After a pause) Saniya, since past few days I am suffering a lot. I am unable to figure out what am I doing with life. I have been thinking a lot…Feels like my soul is floating in a pool of negative feelings and thoughts. Please, help me out.

Her – (Holding his hand) Shashank, it is ok and very normal. We are at a stage of life where we have to face these things.

I – Saniya, every time I think of trying out something new I end up in vain. I feel like quitting. I am not responsible anymore…..

Her – Shashank, can you see those crabs at sea shore?

I – Saniya please, I am serious.

Her – So am I. Just observe them. Every time the crabs crawling up tertrapods are washed away by the waves. But they just don’t give up. They keep on trying till they reach their destination. Same applies to us. To reach our destination, we have to overcome number of obstacles. To quit is not an option.

I – What keeps them going?

Her – Ummm...Utmost desire to reach the destination. Look at the Skyline. Opportunities in life are just like Skylines. It appears to have an end but it never ends. Set your path of opportunities to Skyline.

I – Why happiness can’t be granted?

Her – I believe Happiness is enclosed in infinite nutshells. You need to break the nutshells one by one. And by nutshell I mean – Bad times.

I – But…

Her – (Interrupting)Shhhhh..Stop overthinking; instead overflow yourself with good vibes. Nothing lasts forever; pains included. This too shall pass. Just believe in yourself. And most importantly never give up; rise every time you fall just like these crabs. Don’t search for Happiness…..create it. Be the source of Happiness.

(After a long pause)

I – I Love you!

Her – I love you more.

I – I love you to the moon and back.

Her – Janemann, I love you to the Pluto and back.

I – (Laughing) seriously….Pluto!

Meanwhile the ambience was pleased with the fresh aroma of downpour. Yes it was raining heavily. When I looked next to me, Saniya was gone leaving behind the rose. It’s almost been a year since she passed away. She had promised to be with me forever and she is. She always comes to see me. Whatever may come  good or bad times, she was there and she will always be. People call me insane, but they will never understand the bond we share. I miss her like anything and everything. I wish if I could stay with her forever.

She always taught me to be the one who makes himself happy rather than being with someone who makes you happy. Little did she know, she is my Happiness.

I love her to the Pluto and back.

Indeed LOVE is IMMORTAL.
