The most underrated place in the Universe

We Millennials have a habit of writing abbreviations of every word or phrase: Ikr, Idk, F9, Tysm,LoL,TGIF, GBU...!!!!
'GBU'! Seriously GBU. Aren't we blessed enough to write "God Bless You"?
I do not understand how do we justify with the time we save by writing a shortened form of most of the words.

Lately, I have been surfing through Social Networking sites and many of my social media buddies have had their good and filtered pictures posted, all smiling with an obligatory keyword #Wanderlust. No abbreviations used. Just #Wanderlust. Thankfully!

To me, Wanderlust is just a noun but for some people, it is a feeling, an emotion or passion. On the contrary, I am kind of ‘Stay-at-Home' person. I do love to travel and explore good places. But this desire is as scarce as hen's teeth.

Recently, a bizarre ‘Wanderlust' stuck me. I felt an urge to travel somewhere and discover tranquillity. Then I started googling about some good places to visit. One thing I was sure about was, this place cannot be a ‘Holy Place'. All my life, all the family trips I have been to was to some or the other ‘Sacred Place'. Moreover, I get these horror dreams of my family members setting me up on a date to some 'Religious place'. So this place cannot be a Religious Place. And I am not an Atheist.

I started making plans. I had my globe bustling from the great Himalayas to lonely islands. But nothing relieved my quest for the serene place. Ultimately a realisation dawned that the serenest place can be found in a corner of my own home……

 ‘The Toilet'

The most underrated place in the Universe!!

It has fancy names like water closet, lavatory, washroom, restroom etc. Different names but they function the same.

So the question is Why Washroom!?

Well, there is a number of reasons.
I believe, Washroom is a quite decent place.
It will not ask your religion or caste or creed or category. It treats all equally.
Gender Neutral Washrooms.
No Reservations.
No Assumptions.
No Stereotypes.
No Gender Roles.
Just the Toilets.
Except that for our convenience, we do have separate washrooms for Male/Female and differently abled. And the best part is: You get them almost everywhere.

It often acts as an escape hole from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives.
It always offers you your personal freedom. You open the door, close it and then you enter into a different world where no one is observing you or judging you. It lets you be ‘YOU', no filters; just the real YOU.

Whenever you are surrounded by people and you are about to breakdown you would simply run to Washroom without any other thought. Why!? Maybe because it lets you cry. It will not ask you the reason, it will not try to console you nor it will judge you as emotionally vulnerable. It will let you express yourself before you. Because it knows well how important it is for you to understand yourself before expecting from others.

The palace  is not only confined to crying. It lets us do a bunch of things. Trust me, all the good ideas that I have thought about occurred to me either below a shower or on the toilet seat.
Well, this is going to sound weird but I do perform 'Crush Wala' dance after seeing my crush at my workplace passing me a smile. Where else can I express this happiness!?

Many of the world's greatest discoveries arose from the washroom. Archimedes Eureka moment happened in Washroom.

Even our Father of Nation believed that great thoughts originate in the washroom. He used to keep a set of pen and writing pad near his toilet.

Also, all great strategies of Government are around Toilet. Even the government has realised that all the problems originate from dirty Toilets. Clean toilets, clean minds and soon cleanliness spreads all around.

Even Bollywood supports 'Clean Toilets and clean mind fad hence-" Toilet: Ek Prem Katha".

I believe that often The Toilet acts as a Times Square on V-J Day in 1945. And I admit that I have this weird fantasy of having a picture of George Mendonsa kissing Greta Zimmer Friedman on V-J Day to be installed in my washroom. Just like George Mendonsa and Greta Zimmer Friedman, Washroom and I share the same bond. We are not passionate lovers, we are not lovers, no not even friends. We are just strangers sharing an exceptional comfort level in each other's presence. And I just love this feeling!

This reminds me of a song from movie Barfi:
" Bin kahe
  Bin sune
 Apni baat ho gayi"

When it hasn't been your day, your week, your month or even your year Washroom  would be there for you.
